Mosques Endowment in Islam
Mosque endowment is regarded as one of the greatest forms of charity and Sadaqah Jariyah, by which donors accrue rewards throughout their lives and after their death. It is also one of the best charitable acts to be done for the deceased from our loved ones, such as our parents.
The prophet (PBUH) said, โWhen a man dies, his acts come to an end, but three, recurring charity, or knowledge (by which people) benefit, or a pious son, who prays for him (for the deceased)โ [Muslim].
Mosques endowment in Islamic hadith
Endowment is a form of charity in Islam, and its benefits remain during the life of the donor and after his death. Endowment or Waqf in Islam involves the transfer of certain property from the original owner to the cause of Allah.
Islam encourages benefiting other Muslims with all kinds of charitable practices.
One of the best endowments encouraged by Islam is building mosques. It was reported that the Prophet (PBUH) said: โWhoever builds a mosque for the sake of Allah, like a sparrowโs nest for Allah or even smaller, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise.โ
Why mosques endowment is important to Islam
The endowment of mosques has a special place in Islam. This is because mosques are:
The worship place for Muslims, where they gather for the sake of Allah.
The mosque is the center of authority for the Muslim community, where Islamic scholars guide and teach them about Islam.
Muslims receive their temporal duties, obligations, and directives that regulate their relationships according to Islamic law in the mosque.
Many mosques include libraries that have Quran copies and other Islamic books that teach Muslims their religion.
A special ceremony that covers topics that are of great importance to Muslims is held every Friday.
Mosques are also places where Muslims celebrate religious occasions and festivals, such as al-Adha and al-Fitr.
Mosques are where Muslims come together during special occasions, such as funerals, weddings, holidays, and so on.

Is mosques endowment Sadaqah Jariyah?
Building mosques is considered a great form of Sadaqah Jariyah, or a charity practice that has a long-term charitable objective. Therefore, the rewards of building mosques are accrued throughout the life of Muslims and after their death.
The Prophet (PBUH) said:
โWhen a person dies, all their deeds end except three: a continuing charity, beneficial knowledge, and a child who prays for them.โ (Muslim).

Supplication (making Duaa).
Inquiring about different issues about their Islamic obligations and their life.
