Clean Water

Water is essential for life, yet millions in remote and underserved communities across Bangladesh still struggle to access clean and safe drinking water. Women, children, and the elderly are the most affected, facing daily health risks and ongoing hardship. Providing clean water is one of the most meaningful acts of compassion—it is not just charity, but Sadaqah Jariyah, a continuous reward that benefits people long after a well is built. Through BASMAH, hundreds of clean water wells have already been constructed, delivering free and safe drinking water to vulnerable families in poor and hard-to-reach areas of Bangladesh.
BASMAH builds two types of water wells based on community needs. The Standard Water Well, costing $250, is designed for individual families and supports essential daily needs such as drinking, cooking, and household use. For larger populations, the Community Water Well, costing $2,500, is a submersible pump system that serves villages, schools, and masjids, providing clean and safe water to hundreds of people every day. Donate a water well today and earn ongoing rewards, in shā’ Allāh. You may also dedicate your donation in the name of your parents or loved ones, creating a lasting legacy of kindness that continues to flow for generations.

The Prophet Muhammad (saw) said:
“The best charity is giving water to drink.” (Sunan al-Nasaee)

The Water Crisis

1 in 9 people do not have access to clean drinkable water

Children lose 443 million school days every year due to water-borne diseases

Dirty water kills 3.5 million people a year

How it works

How Your Well Is Built

1. You Make a Donation

It all starts with you. Your kind donation gives us the ability to start building a water well. This well will bring clean, safe drinking water to families who have been struggling every day without it.

2. Location Survey, Beneficiary Survey & Selection

Our field team goes to areas where clean water is very hard to find. We survey the land, talk to local people, and study the ground to find the best place for the well. We make sure that the families who need it most are selected, so your donation reaches the right hands.

3. Procurement & Material Collection

Once the location is confirmed, we arrange everything needed — pipes, hand-pumps, cement, and other materials. We carefully check the quality to make sure the well will be strong and long-lasting.

4. Starting the Boring Process & Well Construction

Our technical team uses proper methods to drill deep into the earth to find clean groundwater. Once we reach it, we build a secure structure so the community can access water safely every day for years to come.

5. Coloring & Finishing Touches

After the well is built, we clean and paint it for a neat and respectful look. We also add a nameplate or tribute, if requested, to honor the donor or a loved one.

6. Receiving Your Final Update

Within 3 to 6 months, you’ll receive a heartfelt update by email, with photos, videos, and stories showing the lives you’ve touched. This time allows us to carefully complete each step — from site selection to construction — and ensures your well is built with love, quality, and lasting impact.
