The month of Dhul Hijjah is one of the holiest periods of the Islamic year, SubhanAllah. A month of increased spirituality, we witness two very special events (Hajj and Eid ul Adha) – all in devotion to Allah (SWT). Many people don’t know that the first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah are better than all the other days of the year, the 10 best days with no exception. They are even better than the days of Ramadan, SubhanAllah!

1st Dhul Hijjah

That they might witness things that are of benefit to them (i.e., reward of Hajj in the Hereafter, and also some worldly gain from trade, etc.), and mention the name of Allah on appointed days, over the beast of cattle that He has provided for them (for sacrifice)... Quran (Al-Hajj: 28)

2nd Dhul Hijjah

Believe in Allah and His messenger, and spend (in charity) out of the (substance) whereof He has made you. Quran (57:7)

3rd Dhul Hijjah

And those who give that (their charity) which they give (and also do other good deeds) with their hearts. Quran (23:60)

4th Dhul Hijjah

And spend in the way of Allah and do not throw [yourselves] with your [own] hands into destruction [by refraining]. And do good; indeed, Allah loves the doers of good. Quran (2:195)

5th Dhul Hijjah

And in their wealth there was a rightful share for him who would ask and for the destitute. Quran (51:19)

6th Dhul Hijjah

The Prophet Muhammad ï·º said: "If you love the poor and bring them near you... God will bring you near Him on the Day of Resurrection." Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 1376

7th Dhul Hijjah

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Allah The Glorious and Exalted Says: Spend (on charity), O son of Adam, and I shall spend on you.” Hadith Qudsi 11

8th Dhul Hijjah

The Holy Prophet ï·º said: “Give (in charity) and do not give reluctantly lest Allah should give you in a limited amount and do not withhold your money lest Allah should withhold it from you.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari, 3.764)

9th Dhul Hijjah

(Day of Arafah) The Prophet ﷺ said: “Fasting the Day of ‘Arafah (ninth Dhul-Hijja) is an expiation for (all the sins of) the previous year and expiation for (all the sins of) the coming year.” Muslim

10th Dhul Hijjah

The Prophet ﷺ said: “There are no days on which good deeds are greater or more beloved to Allah than on these ten days, so recite much Tahleel (saying Laa ilaaha ill-Allah), Takbeer (saying Allahu Akbar) and Tahmeed (saying Alhamdu Lillaah).” (Ahmad -Saheeh)
