Rohingya Refugees Support

More than 1 million Rohingya refugees live in makeshift
camps made of bamboo and plastic

Approximately 1.3 million Rohingya have been living in 13 square kilometres of camps in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh since 2017. Basmah is the largest provider of services addressing the Rohingya humanitarian crisis.

The density of the population and inadequate access to resources in the camps create a challenging living condition for both Rohingya and host communities. Due to their limited assets and hindered access to social services most people of these communities are deprived of basic services like proper housing settlements, infrastructure, healthcare, sanitation, protection and education.

Our need-based holistic approach provides access to basic services including healthcare, learning, water hygiene and sanitation, food security, and social protection, and equips people with skills to create livelihood opportunities and dignified socio-economic conditions.

Rohingya Refugees Support

More than a million Rohingya refugees endure the harsh conditions of makeshift camps, pieced together with bamboo and plastic. These persecuted Muslims, escaping ethnic cleansing in Myanmar, fled to Bangladesh with nothing but the clothes on their backs. They wholly rely on humanitarian aid for their survival, including shelter, food, clothing, healthcare, and education for their children.

However, the sheer magnitude of this crisis overwhelms both international and local aid agencies. BASMAH, recognizing the urgency of the situation, has stepped in to provide critical assistance. Since the crisis erupted in 2017, BASMAH has been on the ground within the camps, offering a range of essential services and programs tailored to meet the diverse needs of the Rohingya community.
