Rules of Cow Qurbani

Qurbani of a Cow

Every year, Muslims worldwide slaughter an animal (goat, sheep, cow, or camel). After Eid al Adha prayers, between the 10th and 12th days of Dhul Hijjah, the final month of the Islamic calendar.

According to our Prophet, Ibrahim sacrificed his son Ismail for the sake of Allah, our Prophet Muhammad (๏ทบ) would offer his Qurbani and then offer another on behalf of his ummah and those that could not afford to do it themselves.

On the authority of Kathir bin Abdullah, it is reported that Prophet Muhammad (saw) said,

โ€œWhoever revives a Sunnah of mine that dies out after I am gone, he will have a reward equivalent to those among the people who act upon it, without detracting from their reward in the slightest.โ€ (Ibn Majah)

Qurbani Shares for a Cow

A cow is split into seven parts. An individual can purchase any number of features or a whole cow for Qurbani. One individual must provide either one part of a large animal (cow or camel) or an exclusive small animal (goat).

โ€œThere is nothing dearer to Allah during the days of Qurbani than the sacrificing of animals. The sacrificed animal shall come on the Day of Judgment with its horns, hair, and hooves (to be weighed). The sacrifice is accepted by Allah before the blood reaches the ground. Therefore sacrifice with an open and happy heartโ€ [Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah]

Cow Qurbani Costs

The cost depends on the country, Qurbani weight, and Qurbani type. You can donate your Qurbani cost to basmah; we give Qurbani to people in need in rohingya and poor bangladeshi.

Iโ€™m on the advisory board of this great organization, Basmah. And Iโ€™m saying to you, from a man on the inside, they do a lot of incredible work. Iโ€™m amazed every day by more and more work; they donโ€™t stop, they never stop.

Sacrifice a Cow in Islam

To fulfill the rules of the Qurbani festival, slaughterers and slaughter-houses should abide by the following regulations:

The animal should be slaughtered with a sharp knife to avoid causing undue suffering

The blade should not be sharpened in front of the animal

No animal should be slaughtered in the presence of another

It is best to slaughter the animal yourself, but if you do not know how you should remain present whilst someone else sacrifices the creature. It is also necessary to say โ€œBism Allah โ€“ Allahu Akbarโ€ when slaughtering the animal. Slaughtered animals are not to be skinned until completely cold.
