"Sadaqah Jariyah: Investing in the Hereafter for Eternal Rewards"
Introduction
Sadaqah
Sadaqah is a form of continuous charity that earns rewards for the donor even after their death. This means that the benefits of this charity will continue to accrue long after the donor has passed away. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, โWhen a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah (continuous charity), knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for himโ (Muslim). Investing in the Hereafter through Sadaqah is a wise decision because it provides a means for an individual to earn rewards that will benefit them in the Hereafter. These rewards are not only spiritual but also tangible in the sense that they can provide assistance to individuals in their daily lives. Sadaqah Jariyah is a means of investing in the Hereafter by contributing to the betterment of society. When an individual performs this act of charity, they are contributing to a cause that will benefit the community at large. For example, building a mosque, providing clean water, supporting Islamic education, planting trees, or supporting an orphanage are all forms of Sadaqah Jariyah that can contribute to the betterment of society. Additionally, investing in the Hereafter through Sadaqah Jariyah is a means of seeking forgiveness and purification. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, โCharity extinguishes sin as water extinguishes fireโ (Tirmidhi). By performing Sadaqah Jariyah, an individual can seek forgiveness and purification for their sins, and earn rewards that will benefit them in the Hereafter.
