Refund Policy

This policy outlines BASMAHโs approach to donation refunds, ensuring transparency, fairness, and consistency in line with donor intent and legal compliance.

3. Refund Eligibility
Refunds may be considered in the following circumstances:
- The donation was made unintentionally or in error.
- There was an issue with the donation amount.
- The donor believes the contribution does not align with their stated intent.
4. Handling Restricted Gifts
- If a donor designates funds for a specific program (e.g. orphan sponsorship, Zakat, Qurbani) and that program is already fully funded, BASMAH may, with donor approval, reallocate the gift to a similar mission-aligned initiative.
- If reallocation is not acceptable to the donor, a refund request will be reviewed in accordance with this policy.
5. Refund Process & Timeline
- Refunds are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
- Once approved, refund processing typically takes up to 30 calendar days from the date of approval.
- If a refund request is denied, we will provide the rationale and, where possible, suggest alternative resolutions (such as program reallocation aligned with donor intent).
6. Non-Refundable Contributions
- Gifts processed through third-party platforms may incur processing fees or transaction charges; any non-refundable fees are not eligible for refund.
- Contributions designated as non-refundable per campaign terms (e.g. certain event ticket fees or merchandise exchanges).

Donation Policy
1. Purpose & Use of Donations
Donations received by BASMAH are used exclusively for charitable activities aligned with our mission: providing food, clean water, medical care, education, and shelter to Rohingya refugees, orphans, and other vulnerable communities. We commit to directing funds to programs with high impact and minimal overhead.
2. Tax-Deductibility & Receipts
BASMAH is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Eligible U.S. donors will receive an IRS-compliant tax receipt. Contributions are deductible to the extent permitted by law. Consult your tax advisor if you have questions.
3. Donation Acceptance & Restrictions
We gratefully accept most forms of donation, including: cash, online payments (credit/debit), gifts in-kind, and recurring gifts. BASMAH reserves the right to refuse donations that are designated for purposes outside our mission or that impose undue burdens or restrictions on use.
4. Restricted Gifts
When you specify that your gift is for a particular program (e.g. Zakat, Sadaqah, Qurbani, educational sponsorships), we use it accordingly. However, if the program becomes overfunded, we reserve the right to redirect funds to another mission-aligned, high-priority area.

- Transparency: We publish annual financial statements and IRS Form 990s, available on our website or upon request.
- Auditing: Depending on revenue thresholds, we conduct either external audits or CPA reviews to ensure compliance and integrity.
7. Zakat & Sadaqah Compliance
In line with Islamic principles, BASMAH ensures that Zakat contributions meet Sharia guidelinesโdistributed only to eligible recipients, without undue delay. We provide references or fatwas where applicable and make Zakat-specific reports available to donors. Online and offline donation pages clearly distinguish Zakat, Sadaqah, and Qurbani giving options.
