Introduction
Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam, and it is a mandatory act of worship that involves giving a portion of oneโs wealth to those in need. Zakat is an essential part of Islam, and it holds great significance for Muslims. In this blog post, we will discuss the importance of Zakat in Islam.
Zakat is a Means
Zakat is a Means: Zakat is a means of purification and a sign of oneโs faith in Allah. It is mentioned in the Quran, โAnd establish prayer and give zakat, and whatever good you put forward for yourselves โ you will find it with Allah. Indeed, Allah of what you do, is Seeingโ (Quran 2:110). The payment of Zakat is an act of worship that purifies oneโs wealth and helps in the development of society.
It is a way of showing gratitude to Allah for the blessings He has bestowed upon us. Zakat is also a means of social welfare and a way of helping the poor and needy. Islam emphasizes the importance of helping those who are less fortunate, and Zakat is an effective means of fulfilling this obligation. The Quran mentions, โAnd in their wealth is a known right for the needy and the destituteโ (Quran 70:24-25). Zakat is a form of social welfare that helps in the redistribution of wealth and resources within the society. Zakat is a means of attaining Allahโs pleasure and forgiveness. By fulfilling the obligation of Zakat, one can earn the pleasure of Allah and seek forgiveness for their sins. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, โCharity wipes out sins like water extinguishes fireโ (Tirmidhi). Zakat is an act of charity that earns rewards from Allah and helps in attaining His pleasure. Zakat is a means of strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood in Islam. It helps in fostering a sense of community and solidarity among Muslims. By fulfilling the obligation of Zakat, Muslims can help in creating a just and equitable society. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, โThe believers in their mutual kindness, compassion, and sympathy are just like one body. When one of the limbs suffers, the whole body responds to it with wakefulness and feverโ (Muslim).
